The hardest part is understanding that energy work is not "hard" at all.
We all have the ability to heal-- to bring on relief through intention-- what is "hard" about practicing Reiki as the healing hands is disconnecting yourself from controlling all of it.
It has nothing to do with you, or your abilities, or your ego--
in fact, this is where we truly learn to detach from that animal we call the ego that we are so often demanded to leave at the door before entering the yoga studio.
Seriously, leaving it there is hard. Who are you without it?
--that's the most beautiful part! Without it is where the magic begins.
Reiki can be loosely defined as a positive energy touch, but it doesn't have to be hands-on. Rather, it is intentionally positive energy being channeled to one body from another. From one healers hands on to a focal point of trapped or upset energy on the body of the receiver.
There is a lot of breathing here. If there's not, start to INSPIRE that breath.
Inhaling deeply and audibly as you feel their chest rise-- pressing the air out while keeping that constriction in the back of your throat as their chest lowers. You make yourself present by bringing them to this moment.
LET YOURSELF FEEL. EVERYTHING.
That's exactly what it is-- a feeling--
an inspiration, a connection, a transformation.
Energy is like this.
You feel it and you let go of controlling it and the life force begins to dance with the breath, taking it where it needs to go.
Reiki is used to heal imbalances. Our chakras, (energy channels), that rest all seven of them on the front and back of our spines, spin clockwise like wheels when we are balanced. The movement and energy transfer of Reiki realigns any of these imbalances in the physical body that connect to the metaphysical realm such as our ability to love, express, believe, and feel. These chakras are even relative to our ability to be present, grounded, passionate, intuitive. The energy focus releases tension that creates pain or blockages in the physical body.
It is a realignment, a movement.
The most fascinating part is that the healer simply allows this to happen-- enabling that positive energy to transfer and transform both parties as they breathe together.
There is this beautiful balance of holding on to focus yet letting go of control. It's as if you fall in to a divot somewhere leaving space and time behind and just fill that space with breath.
How often do we allow ourselves to just feel what we experience without much thought or contemplation? How often do we relax the mind and become aware of the body that we live in? How simple, yet complex.
"I am not in control. I am nothing. I am everything. I am present. I am breathing. I am gratitude. I am love. I let it happen. I feel all of it, everything. I am disconnected. I am connected. I am not in control. I let it all happen."
