Chelcy Pine: a Certified Kundalini/Hatha/Vinyasa/Yin Yoga Instructor & Reiki Master
I am a local San Diego certified Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500) who is currently pursuing a Holistic Health Practitioner Certification and continuing education in Yoga.
Originally from Michigan, I hold a Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing and Philosophy,
and combine all of my education in my teachings of Yoga.
Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga is one of the most traditional types of Yoga in American Culture. We focus a great deal on Pranayama (breathing), and the connection of breath to Asana (postures). At times, we flow one breath to one movement.
With Yin Yoga, we maintain a focus on breath work and asana yet move much slower as a means to find more release and restoration in the mind and body. I follow a "Yoga As Medicine" approach when creating flows and sequences for each class or client, incorporating various Pranayama exercises as well as a focus on Mantras (intentions) and Mudras (hand gestures). These flows consist of (but are not limited to) Sun Salutations to express gratitude, twists to detoxify our organs, balancing in order to remain present, and backbends to open the heart space.
Based on the variation and sequence of Asanas, classes are aimed at improving Back Pain, Anxiety, Fatigue/Exhaustion, Depression, Detoxing, Bringing Awareness to the Body, Sore Hips, and more.
I moved to San Diego, California in September of 2013 and started attending the School of Healing Arts to become a Holistic Health Practitioner-- my main focus is in Yoga Instruction, Zen Touch Shiatsu Massage, and Hypnotherapy. I have a passion for Poetry and spoken word, which led to my Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing and Philosophy. What drew me to yoga?
It was every where.
It was when I realized that all of the inhalers and breathing machines weren't helping me catch my breath. Convinced that it was asthma that led to my rapid anxious thoughts, I found myself constantly drawn to yoga studios. It was more of a desperation for mental clarity than it ever was for the physical fitness and strength- that part just seemed to happen.
Through the repetition and awareness of breath in yoga, I have finally CAUGHT it--that breath-- that breath that has taught me more about what it's like to face yourself over anything else. I have restored faith in my mind and body by taking the holistic path and making the connection between the two.
The fact that this is accessible to every human on Earth is outstanding.
Yoga to me is cOMmunity.
Healing.
It is Awareness.
Through Yoga, we uncover the pits of ourselves- getting closer to who we are meant to be.
The most beautiful part is that while it is a journey inward, we take that journey TOGETHER.
So join me in your journey--
Where we'll share the stories-- create the sound--
Then find the silence.
We'll feel it all and learn to accept that.
Join me in OUR journey--
It all starts by simply showing up.
We Are One.
